It’s been a very busy year in the world of silicone and we cannot believe where the year has gone. So we thought we’d recap on some of our main news stories of 2015.
Training for the Future
Let’s start all the way back in January 2015 where we started our successful Technical Training Programme delivered by our Senior Innovations Technologist, Bill Taylor. The sessions were carefully planned and structured to increase the technical knowledge and expertise of all front end staff in the science and performance of silicone. The sessions 4 month training sessions have helped increase knowledge of staff to pass on expert knowledge down the supply chain.
Boeing Fly In
February saw Silicone Engineering host some special visitors in aerospace giant Boeing. They visited our manufacturing facility as part of their commitment to quality and safety assurance. The visit was to assess a number of key factors such as a robust supply chain, manufacturing infrastructure and capability together with design and solution capabilities.
Farmers of the Future
We hosted again in March but this time it was a large group of farmers. We were contacted by a Lancashire young farmers association to see if we would provide a presentation of our silicone dairy tubing manufacturing facility which we were delighted to host. The evening allowed us to connect with the end user of our products and gain some feedback into performance and how we could potentially look to improve the silicone tubing.
New Rail Spec
It was all about the Rail and Mass Transit industry in April as we got our solid grade of low smoke, low toxicity silicone tested to meet EN 45545-2 – the European Standard for rail fire and smoke safety.
Silicone Blog Gets Launched
Our silicone Blog was launched online providing a range of in depth discussions on technical silicone topics such as Water Absorption, UL rating and Closed Cell Sponge.
Racing to Success
Silicone Engineering Racing had a great summer round the track as they pick up podium places at a number of European road racing events!
October saw Silicone Engineering, working closely with BSI, had the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management continuous approval renewed for another 3 years.
Barcelona Hosts the Silicone Summit
The year ended with Silicone Engineering exhibiting, sponsoring and attending the Silicone Elastomers World Summit in Barcelona. The annual event brings together the silicone sector to discuss advances in technologies, market trends and new applications.
