Silicone Rubber for Military & Defence

In defence environments, there’s no room for material failure. Silicone Engineering manufactures high-performance solid and sponge silicone solutions engineered to perform in mission-critical systems across land, air, and sea.

From IP-rated gaskets in armoured vehicles to cockpit and UAV enclosure seals, our kSil®, expanSil™, and suraSil™ materials offer exceptional thermal resistance, vibration dampening, and flame retardancy, ensuring lasting protection even in the harshest conditions.

We formulate and test to globally recognised defence and aerospace specifications including AA-59588, ASTM D1056, UL94 V-0, and FAR25, with materials tailored for compliance and battlefield readiness. Our products are trusted by OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and engineers delivering high-performance sealing solutions where it matters most.

How can silicone be used?

Solid and sponge silicone materials are used in a wide range of applications to seal, insulate, and protect systems from flame, heat, water ingress, dust, vibration, and harsh environmental conditions.

Seals & gaskets

Silicone sponge offers ultra-low compression force deflection and excellent compression set, ideal for reliable sealing. Grades tested to UL157 and UL50E ensure performance in outdoor, fuel-exposed, and high-temperature environments.

Acoustic & vibration insulation

Silicone sponge acts as a vibration dampener and acoustic barrier, helping to protect sensitive components in armoured vehicles, UAVs, and control systems from shock, noise, and mechanical fatigue.

Thermal insulation

Both closed-cell sponge and solid silicone grades provide excellent thermal insulation, withstanding temperatures from -60°C to +230°C. Ideal for engine compartments, avionics, and high-heat enclosures across land, air, and sea platforms.

Sealing profiles

Custom sponge and solid extrusions, including tubing, cords, and profiles, are used to seal LED units, sensor housings, and outdoor electrical enclosures in military vehicles and equipment.

Extreme Environments, Trusted Performance

From scorching deserts to freezing arctic conditions, military equipment must endure environments that push materials to their limits. That’s why Silicone Engineering’s materials are designed and tested to deliver consistent, high-performance sealing and insulation, even under extreme mechanical and environmental stress.

Our silicone sponge and solid rubber grades operate in temperatures ranging from -60°C to +230°C, maintaining flexibility, compression recovery, and sealing integrity in both static and dynamic applications. With UL94 V-0 flame retardant ratings available across our V-0 and 2D series grades, our materials also help reduce fire risk in enclosed or high-heat environments.
