What is Silicone Extrusion?
Silicone extrusions are closed cell silicone lengths that can be extruded into a range of shapes. They have many application benefits across a number of industries and can be used for thermal insulation, vibration damping, sealing flexibility, insulation, noise reduction and thermal shielding.
Silicone Engineering’s expanSil™ range of sponge extrusions are manufactured, designed and developed in a continuous production process, allowing for much longer silicone sponge coil lengths. This can help significantly reduce set-up and changeover times and increase your operational efficiency and competitive advantage. expanSil™ silicone sponge materials can also be produced as silicone sponge seals

Silicone Sponge Densities
expanSil™ is available in several densities from 200 kg/m3 (soft) to 530 kg/m3 (very firm) and in standard colours white, red and grey. Due to the properties of cellular materials we offer a limited colour matching service for special requirements.
Sponge and Foam Cords
expanSil™ sponge silicone cord extrusions can be produced in diameters ranging from 2mm to 50mm. The cord is often cut to length and joined to form rings. Popular applications for these include use as a gasket in applications that require superior sealing properties in harsh environments.

expanSil™ sponge silicone square section can be produced from 2mm up to 60mm square. As with cords, it is often joined to form rings and used as gaskets fitted in channels to produce good sealing properties.

Sponge and Closed Cell Foam Tubing
expanSil™ silicone sponge and foam tubing (closed cell) available in general purpose and almost all of our special formulation grades.
Our sponge tubing can be produced from an inner diameter (ID) from 5mm up to 70mm and an outer diameter (OD) of 10mm up to 100mm.
expanSil™ sponge silicone rectangular section can be produced from a thickness of 2.5mm and a width of up to 100mm. Applications include channel seals, where the section is located in a channel to provide a sealing surface. We have the ability to join to form rings or mitre corner gaskets.
Sponge and Closed Sell Foam Profiles
Our expanSil™ sponge profiles are produced tailored specifically to the specification of our customers and can be created in all of our general purpose and special grades.
From simple ‘P’ profiles to more complex shapes, our ability to apply our knowledge and expertise provides cost effective solutions for our customers through efficient deisgn and manufacturing techniques.
By working closely with the customer we firstly assess the application and problem (if any) that is being experienced. We can then design the profile needed to perform and also the correct silicone grade to fit the application. Following production of a prototype we will robustly test the design to ensure the product performs exactly as specified.
