Silicone Engineering Achieves UL 157 & UL 50E Certification for Select kSil® Sponge Grades
We are pleased to announce that a range of our kSil® Silicone Sponge materials has achieved UL 157 and UL 50E ratings for a selection of our kSil® silicone sponge grades.
✅ What’s Been Certified?
The following kSil® sponge grades are now officially UL-listed under File No. MH67030:
- kSil® GP (General Purpose)
- kSil® V-0 NG (UL94 V-0 rated)
- kSil® US Sponge Grades (U.S. specification range)
These grades are listed under the General Sealing Materials category (JMLU2) and have been tested in accordance with UL 157. This includes evaluation of key physical properties such as tensile strength, elongation, compression set, and resistance to environmental aging.
In addition, these materials have been assessed for suitability in UL 50E applications, covering a wide range of NEMA enclosure types (including Types 2, 3, 4X, 6P, 12, and 13) and are suitable for continuous and periodic compression, even in oil-immersed environments.
🔍 Why It Matters
For product designers and engineers, UL certifications assure that materials are independently verified to meet rigorous safety and performance benchmarks. Whether you’re developing a sealed electrical enclosure, weatherproof housing, or industrial equipment, UL-certified materials help streamline compliance, improve reliability, and reduce development risk.
