Our team flew out to Munich, Germany this month to attend the well respected Silicone Elastomers 2013 World Summit, held by testing and research company, Smithers Rapra.
The three day summit brought together the industry leaders in silicone elastomers from manufacturers, OEMs, end users and academics from across the globe. Dow Corning, BlueStar and Momentive were in attendance to discuss their latest technologies and respected academics gave their views on where the silicone market is heading in the next decade. The speakers covered a range of important topics such as new applications of silicone and manufacturing techniques; along with broader topics such as the carbon footprint silicone manufacturing has on the environment.
The summit was very successful with lots of new ideas being taken back for discussion. It was a great opportunity to unite manufacturers, processors, designers and researchers who all shared a common interest in silicone elastomer materials, applications and processing.
