New Silicone Materials Are Here!
Silicone Engineering is extremely excited to announce two new grades of silicone solid sheeting, which are now available. kSil™30 and kSil™80 have been added to our sheeting material portfolio allowing us to offer an extensive range of shore hardness, which will cater to a wide range of applications, serving numerous markets.
Developing these two grades has been an ongoing project since earlier this year, within the technical and sheeting departments, who have been working closely together to produce the final result. There has been a demand in the marketplace for a softer and harder product for some time, so Silicone Engineering decided to take on the challenge of forming a bespoke product to serve new markets.
By adding kSil™30 & kSil™80 to the solid silicone sheeting range, we now have 6 grades of commercial, FDA approved solid sheeting available. The new grades can be produced in 1m wide sheets, with plans already in place to increase this to wider widths.
Mixing It Up
Silicone Engineering have added a new mixer to the factory floor this month, which was delivered on site at the end of October and is now fully in operation.
The completely automated device controls mixing methods, temperatures and the speed of the overall mixing. The tighter controls within the machine have improved the overall quality of the mixing process, which have therefore resulted in a better quality product.
Steve Hadlington, Technical & Quality Director said, “The new mixing machine will allow us to double our capacity on all solid grades. This will help support the industry demands for the fastest lead times and quality service.”
Silicone Engineering’s solid materials are supplied in both sheeting (kSil™) and extrusion (suraSil™) with a shore hardness range of 30-80 Shore A.
