Race Team Motors On

The Silicone Engineering sponsored race team are back from the Isle of Man TT after a very successful TT festival.

As reported in last month’s story, the TT race festival was held over a two week period from 24th May to 6th June.

The team, headed by lead rider Russ Mountford, were competing in a number of races including the Superbike, Supersport and Superstock classifications as well as competing in the sidecar event.

Russ had a fantastic ride in each event coming 11th in the Supersport, 12th in the Superstock and 18th in the Dainese Superbike. Russ got up to a staggering 122.61mph around the tricky winding circuit, something that must have taken the upmost concentration, skill and bravery.

The sidecar team consisting of John Holden and Andrew Winkle hit the headlines by finishing 2nd overall, which gave the team a podium finish. The duo were clinical in their performance finishing a full 9 seconds in front of 3rd place.

Paul Iddon, Team Manager said of the team’s performance ”The Silicone Engineering sponsored Race Team had a fantastic 2014 TT, it was our first TT as a team & all the members worked extremely hard thought the 2 weeks exceeding all expectations. I had my personal targets for Russ that he achieved in every race. John & Andy in the sidecars proved that they are the fastest 3 wheelers around the mountain course but were very unfortunate that an electrical problem prevented them from standing on the top step of the podium. More importantly, all the team gained valuable experience to enable them to become a force to be reckoned with in the TT races”

There’s no rest for the team as they are back in action in less than two weeks as they travel back to the Isle of Man for the Southern 100.

Silicone Engineering would like to say a big congratulations to Paul, Russ, John and Andy for the superb results at the TT and also to wish all the team the best of luck for the rest of the year.
