Silicone Engineering’s is pleased to announce that our suraSil™GP Silicone Solid Extrusion range has met 3-A Sanitary 18-03 class 1 approval.

Silicone Engineering now manufactures suraSil™GP 40, 60 and 70 shore in accordance 3-A Standard 18-03, which is commonly required in food processing and dairy sectors when used as dairy tubing, gaskets, seals and joined rings.

In addition to suraSil™GP’s FDA approval, the 3-A Sanitary Standard specifies additional performance requirements to establish acceptance for these applications.

According to the 3A Sanitary Standards Inc, they state ‘Specifically, the materials must meet requirements for compatibility with cleaning and sanitising agents, tested under use-simulating conditions. These tests are intended to evaluate the rubber’s physical properties and to assess performance of the rubber under accelerated simulated dairy product contact and cleaning conditions. The specified laboratory testing concerns milk fat absorption, air aging stability, and tests for compatibility with cleaning and sanitizing agents.’

The 3A Sanitary standard is significant and will open up new applications and opportunities for the suraSil™GP materials and is a welcomed addition to our family of accreditations and associations. Silicone Engineering’s focus on quality and performance is why our silicone materials are accredited to the highest international standards to improve safety and protection across many industry sectors.
