Metal detectable silicone rubber seals and gaskets
metectSil™ is a metal detectable silicone rubber that can be detected by integrated metal detectors fitted along the processing lines.
In the event of eroding particles from a silicone seal entering the process line, such particles will be identified. The production process can then be quickly stopped, contaminated products segregated and the process modified to overcome the problem.
The commercial benefit for the manufacturer is that the risk of production downtime and the probability of waste being produced will be greatly reduced due to the properties of metectSil™, enabling early detection of contamination.
Concerns within the food and beverage industry of by-products originating from processing equipment entering the process lines are widespread.
A particular concern expressed by several of our clients across the world is the risk of rubber sealing particles from machinery used in the manufacturing process, contaminating production lines.
In response to the commercial problems of downtime and large quantities of waste being produced from such contamination, Silicone Engineering endeavoured to develop an elegant solution which has culminated in our new product – metectSil™.
metectSil™ silicone rubber can be manufactured in solid or sponge silicone.
Features & Benefits of metectSil™ – Metal Detectable Silicone
- Increased safety
- Reduced downtime
- Reduced waste due to contamination
- Reduced costs
- A decrease in customer complaints
- Ease of scheduling planned maintenance

Types of metectSil™ silicone rubber seals and gaskets
Silicone Engineering produces metectSil™ in both solid and sponge silicone grades. Our solid silicone range is produced in three detection strengths:
- Standard metectSil™ ST
- Premium metectSil™ XP
- Super metectSil™ XS
Additionally, Silicone Engineering can produce this metal detectable silicone in a sponge form as – metectSil™SP. The three forms of solid metectSil™ (ST, XP and XS) are typically used in silicone rubber seals and gaskets.
All three are tested to and comply with the requirements of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulation 21CFR177.2600 for rubber articles in repeated contact with food, and EC1935/2004 for materials and articles intended to come into contact with food.
Increase productivity and reduce downtime by choosing metectSil™ silicone rubber seals and gaskets.
